Across some of the state’s mountaintops you’ll find yourself exposed to different weather you wouldn’t expect in the southwest.
The Sky Islands of the southwestern region of the United States is home to some of the most diverse mammalian species in the world, including the jaguar and the ocelot–but it’s also being threatened by rising temperatures that are changing the ecology and climate of the sensitive area.
I trekked up along the Dragoon Mountains in Cochise county with a group of nature lovers who spend their weekends scaling the rough terrain for a chance to glimpse into the lives of the rare fauna and flora that inhabit the Sky Islands.
